is insulation needed for Loose lay tiles over concrete slab?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

Hi, Do I need to put down some insulation or underlay on top of a concrete slab before putting the Loose lay tiles down? Would putting a thin layer of insulation say 10-15mm be of much benefit or is the floor always going to feel cold?

The insulation you use needs to be non compressive. If it compresses too much you will get problems with the movement of the joints between the planks or tiles, a good quality rubber base layer is what you need. You will probably need to go to a specialist flooring wholesalers.
