Render likely trapping it in best solution is to take off all damp render up to 1.5 metre and tank using an anti sulphate chemical first followed by a water and sbr mix then 2 coats of a tanking mix sovereign k 11 good then render with water proofer then finally plaster messy job but works well

depends really on the age an type of the building, remove old render and if an old solid brick building render with a lime render allowing the walls to breathe.
good luck alex

what is on the walls? as gypsum based products attract damp.
the problem with damp issues is fiding the source as it can track.
i have been subcontracting for a large damp proofing company for a couple of years now,and have met all sorts of problems all with 100% success rate.
have you had the inside work done and the damps coming back or is there moisture still in the wall.
knocking off to 1.5m is not the answer as its not rising damp and even then sometimes full height is recommended.
just recently had to redo someones work who had hardwalled a damp affected area within a month the damp was coming back due to the gypsum based product.walls had also been tanked.
hope this helps
