RCD tripping when switching a socket off?

Ok so today one of my RCDs has started tripping when I switch a socket off. No problems up until now and then happened twice in a row. Everything connected to that socket is switched off so a little baffled as to what the cause is! Any ideas?

Hi. An RCD can still trip even if the switches are off. You could try removing all plugged in equipment, if the RCD stays on then plug things back I one by one until you find the one that trips it.
If it is still tripping with nothing plugged in then more than likely a fault has developed and you will need to have the RCD and circuit tested.

If this happens when you actually switch off the s/o, then it's probably just a physical failure in the socked that maybe causes an earth fault.
I suggest replacing the socket.
