can a roofer put the rubbish onto my roof
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.06 PM
Ive come home today to find my neighbour next door is having her flat roof replaced and as i drove past saw that all the old stuff is now on top of my roof, when i spoke to the guy in charge he says this is what everyone does there is no other way of getting it done, my problem is how do i know that there is no damage being done to mine and is it right that thats where the rubbish should go even though he's said its only old felt and polysterene thats been put on top of mine and if not what can i do about it

Generally you bring the rubbish down as its removed, you do need to go onto the neighbours roof if its connected to achieve a seal between both roofs personally we always speak to the neighbours and ask although generally their is no damage we will let the neighbours know its our responsibility to put right any damage the does occur.
A little. bit rude by your neighbour /roofer. You have the right to refuse them access onto your roof so your neighbour is wrong.
Good luck Alex

What a nice neighbour you have, I would approach her,as, ultimately it is her contractor. I would say something along the lines of get it off my roof and get a grip of your contractor as any damage etc will be your responsibility and just ask her would she like it all over her roof. A bit of common sense and politeness on her part would have gone a long way. There is another way of doing it, get the stuff off the roof as you go and store the stuff on her property

A little courtesy goes a long way. Yes your neighbour should ask for your permission first and yes it can be done without putting all the rubbish onto your roof. As said above, take it down as you go.
