Removing a suspended ceiling, do i need to insulate the metal roof?
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.33 PM
I am moving into a new business premises. The unit itself is fairly old and has a metal sloped roof. In one part of the unit I require more headroom and as such plan to remove the suspended ceiling from that area. The ceiling is plasterboard panels suspended from the roof with fiberglass insulation sitting on top of it. The building manager isn't being super helpful with regards to building regs so I need to know what the regulations require in order to remove the ceiling from a section of the unit.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi
You should instulate to the slop of the pitch internally unless the steel roof sheeting is already insulated in the core, sounds like from the age it is not.
