I have installed a new oil fired boiler to work in conjunction with an existing solid/multi fuel cooker/backboiler. The principal is exactly the same as your proposal, all it requires is careful planning and someone who understands what is required for both heat sources to work independently of each other! The customer wanted the stove/back boiler to provide a primary heat source to there unvented hot water cylinder during the summer months when the oil boiler was not required for providing heat to the radiator circuit.

Lone sculler, Why not just have a combo boiler which is efficient and a lovely wood burning fire to look at of an evening? It’s like watching natures TV with ya feet up while the ideal logic+ combo with 10 years warranty does the hard work for ya. Enjoy
