Why is the manhole in my front garden constantly running

I can hear the water running constantly in the main drain under the man hole cover in my front garden. Any idea what this could be? Thanks

It may also be the main drain for the rest of the street so your getting the waste water being used in the other properties.

As already mentioned you may well find that manhole is access to the local sewage circuit.

Hi Haley. If the water running is something you have noticed recently then it could be a water main leak. Have a look for any damp areas around your garden and if you can lift the manhole to trace where the water is coming from. If not I would call your water company for advice. They may well send someone out to investigate. Hope this helps.
