Range cooker electrical fault due to mice getting to the cooker

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.25 PM

Hi We have a flavel finesse 100 dual range cooker The gas hobs are fine & the kitchen electrics all work, we had electricians round who said it was the cooker. We then got a flavel engineer round but under the policy they said they can't repair faults created by mice! I have now cancelled my policy as it is useless to me Dies anyone have any advice on if the electrics are worth looking at or if I should bite the bullet & get a new cooker? Because of the policy The engineer did not help advise what part was at fault. Has anyone has experience of this happening before, if so, thoughts? Thanks in advance Mark

Hi Mark, That's an unusual issue!! The only thing I could suggest would be to check your household insurance as to whether you would be covered for something like that. Hopefully you didn't end up with a fried mouse after it did the damage! This is assuming the electricians you had round did a full test and inspection of the cooker circuit to ensure it definitly is the cooker causing the fault. Ben of B Hitchins Electrical

Hi hope you are well. A diagnostic is available in all cases for the root cause of a fault. In this instance, we would identify the faulty part/parts by doing a simple functional test and or, a continuity test of the line conductors throughout the working parts and wiring of the appliance (cooker). Once establishing this, we can make a simple search online detailing the make and model of the appliance (cooker) and gain a part number. Order new parts, install and test. As long as the cost of parts dose not exceed the value of the appliance, we would always advise the repair. Happy to help. Thanks James JW Electrical Services
