Cabinet recess for gas pipe to hob?

Just started work on a tenement flat and in the kitchen I plan to have the hob on the opposite end of the room. I'm building the kitchen myself and am wondering if, with the floorboards up, an engineer would just want to run the pipe on the wall in a cavity behind the cabinets or reroute from the boiler and through the joists to the new position?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi the Gas safe engineer would be able to run the pipe in either position, they would probably go for whichever is the easiest solution, hope this helps
