Class 2 light shades
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.33 PM
Hi. We have a 1930's house. The wiring has not been earthed so there's no earth in the lights. Are we able to use light shades that have any part that's made of metal? The long cord that hangs from the ceiling that the light shade will hang from (not sure what it's called) is covered in plastic though. Thanks

Yes as long as the pendants or whatever fittings you have are plastic or double insulated.

If there is no earth at the lights it could be worth having a Electrical installation condition report done on your property. Due to the age of the wiring. It will highlight any potential faults and the electrician can go through any questions or concerns you might have.
