Hot water not running hot

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.06 PM

Hi. Since I've lived in my house I've never been able to get hot to the touch water, just warm. When using a shower it works fine and runs at whatever temp I set it at however the bath and sinks don't get anything more than warm. Its never been an issue for me as I only shower and the dishes I'll top up with kettle water . I'm getting a lodger in who may prefer baths so I was wondering what the fix is? (Also the radiators work fine and are hot) Combi boiler is fine too and has been regularly serviced. Thank you for your time --- To the first reply - My shower is connected to the boiler/not electric :) but I will get someone to take a look and see :) Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If the shower is fine and all other taps are not getting hot with a combi would indicate ur shower is electric and independent from the boiler,Would recommend when heating cold to run a hot tap and check the heating pipe from the boiler too see if it gets warm as with a combi if the diverter valve is letting bye-into the htg circuit this could contribute too poor dhw temp at outlets also if regularly serviced gas pressures etc should of been taken as if gas supply is undersized when combi running at higher kw output this could cause poor water performance, there is many other factors i.e.hot water thermistor/blending valves(mixer valves)I would strongly recommend calling a gas safe registered engineer too inspect

Either your boiler settings are low (not insulting your intelligence) or you have a scaled plate heat exchanger. Either way, you need a Gas Safe engineer.

It could be number of two things diverted valve or heat plate exchanger Your best getting someone out to look you could be looking anything up to £200 to repair the problem but you need it checked first and diagnose the problem cos it could be number of things
