Fitting a range cooker with electric oven

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.06 PM

We are replacing our old Tricity Fanfare double oven with a dual range cooker. Gas hob electric oven. The old cooker is switched on with an electric switch on the wall. It does not have the red light on it. My question is the supplier is asking if we are fixed up for a 32 amp fuse. Would you think the exsisting switch was suitable to use for the new connection? We have established from the fuse box that it is a 30 amp fuse. Sandra

I would get a REGISTERED as well as a qualified electrician in to carry the work out as it might need the fuse as you put it de-rating. The supplier is asking for a 32 amp supply. You say it's a 30 amp supply which suggests you have a bit of a problem satisfying their requirements.

Hi, Could you provide a picture of the switch in question ,that may help?. Although my recommendation would be a site visit to establish the size of the circuit and does it have the necessary switch and outlet plate, some of these companies supplying cookers, ovens, hobs etc can be quite picky about the electrical requirements.

Hello, When replacing wired in appliances with new ones, it is advisable to have a qualified electrician access the entire circuit. That is the fuse, the electric wire to the switch and the wire from the switch to the oven. You stated that it is a 30 amp fuse. Sounds to me like your electric installation is an older type. I would recommend that you get a qualified electrician to look at the installation.
