Damp Proofing

Which Job Comes First- new radiators or the damp proof course?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.45 PM

I have a quote from a central heating engineer to replace all radiators in my property. The radiator piping is all set up through the floor boards so the engineer advised that to him it does not matter whether I have the DPC and plastering work done before or after, From the damp proofing point of view, should I wait for my quotes to get this done first or just go ahead with my new radiators?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi If I was going to plaster a wall there is no way I would do it with a radiator in situ. Trust me I have seen some horrendous plastering done with things in place. Strip back and do it properly. Plaster, fit the brackets and rads and then connect. A dehumidifier will help the plaster dry out this time of year and also keeps the ambient temp in the room a little higher Best Regards Lee

If u will have radiators done its mean that u can turn on your heating during plaster works which can help plaster dry but it will be more difficult for plaster guys to do his job behind radiators.
