How to stop the mold growing on my bedroom walls?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.06 PM

Hi, I've just moved into a rented property 3 months ago, it needed some painting and decorating and a deep clean doing to it, which I did, but now I'm noticing that mold is growing in 2 of my bedrooms, on my freshly painted walls!!! It's also started growing on my clothes and furniture!!! I've noticed that the windows are old and when you get close to them they're very drafty, and have a lot of condensation on them!!! I know the usual advice would be to change the windows or have better insulation put in, but as this is a rented property I'm not willing to pay out such a hefty price when I don't own the property, and my landlord isn't willing to pay to have it done either, so I'm looking for other ways/ideas to help the problems I'm having??? Thank you!!!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Bobbie, . it is your landlords duty to when renting out a property to make sure its fit for purpose ,and carryout any repairs required to achieve this in a timely manner. If he doesn't or won't carry out repairs the local housing department at your council has a department that deal with rouge landlords on your behalf to get your issue repaired. This is your landlords responsibly not your. Good luck Alex
