How do we arrange the coals in a parkway gas fire?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

Hi, we have a Parkway gas fire (approx 20 years old) which came with the house when we bought it. So we have no manuals but it was working beautifully until we had a chimney fire. The fire brigade came and understandably hoofed all the coals out and popped them back in. When we came to relight the flames came out underneath the grate - rather hair raising! We have have several attempts at placing the coals correctly and searched everywhere for info how to organise the coals properly but nothing has worked. Does anyone know anything about this and who would we ask to come and help us? Grateful thanks Louise

Better call a Gas Safe engineer to attend and correct the situation regarding the coals, but more importantly ask him to check the fire for SAFE working, in light of the recent fire, he may suggest a fire service too. Not a great deal of money, but certainly money well spent and peace of mind!
