Kitchen Fitting

1) How to change electric cable for cabinet lights where fitted? 2) how to replace fitted microwave?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.45 PM

(1) I currently have fluorescent light tubes which are fitted under the kitchen cabinet (http://www.diy.com/departments/masterlite-fluorescent-21w-linkable-cabinet-light-l916mm/841723_BQ.prd). These are operated by (a) the light switch on the wall, and (b) the switch on the actual tube itself (see image in the link above). I am thinking of changing these fluorescent light tubes to LED (http://www.diy.com/departments/masterlite-led-6w-linkable-cabinet-light-l573mm/841799_BQ.prd), but the plug for fluorescent light tubes is slightly different in size to the plug for the LED lights, so I can't use the existing electric cable (which is for fluorescent lights) for the LED lights and would need to change them. However, the cable seems to run behind the kitchen cabinet in the wall, so I cannot pull out the cable easily. Is there an easy way to replace the cable without damaging the cabinet or other parts of the kitchen fitting? Thank you. (2) The microwave in the kitchen is currently fixed in place into one of the kitchen cabinets. I would like to replace the microwave as it is getting old. Is there an easy way to remove the existing microwave without damaging other parts of the cabinet? Thank you.

Why those cables are in the wall?? Shouldent be. I think yours cables are running between kitchen cabinet and wall and are connected to main power on top of yours units. You should be able to easily pull old cables up and drop new one down. Microwave is easy to change. Normally you should have 1 screw each site of yours microwave. Remember once buying new ones to check all measurements, to make sure new appliance will fit perfectly in to old space :)
