Hi, You could use pre finished mdf architrave for pelmet, because it can sit square on the bottom of the unit. As a cornice it will be tricky to fix it at an angle because of the square profile unless you are laying it flat. You can only glue the joints, both have to be screwed to the units... either from underneath for the pelmet or above for the cornice. Bodgy to screw it from inside of the units

Personally I would say no. Architrave is too thin, usually your kitchen supplier will provide cornice and pelmet. My tip use a chop saw and "mitremate" glue for the joints. Good luck

I have seen architrave used for pelmets before, they look alright but need staining or painting, as for using them for cornice, depends on the size of architrave you use, too smalland it will not stand out and may look out of scale to the units. You will probably need to screw the architrave unless you are lucky enough to get some that is dead straight, I would recommend screwing it anyway, this will prevent steam etc causing the glue to fail in the future, which could also cause injury if the cornice was to fall from the tops of the units onto anyone.

Personally I wouldn't use architrave. Your kitchen supplier will be able to supply you with matching pelmet and cornice. Whatever you use though, don't just rely on glue to hold it in place. It will need to be mechanically fixed in some way.
