Yellow stain on living room ceiling.

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.44 PM

I had my living room ceiling skimmed 2 and a half weeks ago and then painted with 3 coats of bare plaster paint. Over the past few days I have noticed a small yellow stain appearing at the edge of the ceiling (about 8cm long). The area of ceiling affected is directly under the bathrooom. I have had a previous leak under the bath which has been fixed and all appears to be dry under there and there are no stains on the bathroom ceiling. I waited 4 days for the plaster to dry and the ceiling was a peach colour when I started painting. Any idea what this could be? And the best way to fix it?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Your best course of action would be to use a stain killer and then recoat, you can purchase this from any builders merchant's. Assuming you don't have any further leakage. Hope this helps.

l agree with the previous tradesmen, put loads of stain block over the infected area. Then repaint, after time if it still comes through, check under the bath 🛀 for possible leaks .ht-window#primary-https://www.mybuilder.com/questions/v/34107/leaking-sash-window#primary-nav
