Hairline cracks in newly painted walls

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.24 PM

I moved into a 1968 bungalow in May, and fully repainted everywhere. All was fine. However, over the past few weeks lots of hairline cracks have appeared in numerous walls. Could this be anything serious? Is it to do with the change of weather and having central heating on? I notice that the cracks are mainly where something has been fitted, eg socket, radiator, coving. Looking for guidance as don't want to use filler for it to just reappear. Thanks

Hairline cracks can be successfully filled, sanded and repainted to a very good standard. 1st knock the affected area and listen very carefully, if the sound is hollow you need to contact a professional plasterer, if you don't hear a hollow sound, then simply open up the cracks (using a Stanley knife) paint into the cracks a solution of diluted PVA, leave to dry then fill with a material called (Easy fill 20) leave to dry for 12 hours and sand to a very smooth finish. Easy fill 20 is not cheap but you get what you pay for in this world. hope this helps
