Knocking down a wall between bathroom and toilet

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.44 PM

Hi, I am looking to merge bathroom and WC by knocking down the wall between. The wall doesn't have anything above in loft and even down below in kitchen area. Can someone advise how should I proceed here?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there this sounds like the old style council layout toilet partitioned off from the bath and sink.this should be fine to remove the wall but there is a couple ov checks u should do first 1 check above in the loft and look to see if there is any cables or pipes running down the wall/ ceiling joists sat on the wall 2 lift a floor board to check the the same pipes cables etc 3 just by knocking on the wall in a couple ov places should tell if it's a stud wall / timber plaster board or a light weight breeze block some old council houses or bungalows depending on the age of the property used breeze blocks rather then timbe 4 if you have any doubt at all and u have never done this work before I must stress get someone in that does good builder should havegood insurance just in case things do go wrong hope this will help u kind regards jimmy

if the ceiling plaster runs across both the wc and bathroom it's not really likely to be load barring. if there nothing on top of the wall that looks like it supported by the wall then you should be fine to remove it. Start at the top first!
