Plumbing

Mains water pipe in the way of fitting an integrated washing machine

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

Hi everyone. I'm in desperate need of some help!! We've had 95% of our new kitchen fitted... unfortunately when putting the washing machine in place, we've found that it sticks out just under two inches further than the other units due to the mains water pipe that sits behind it. The plumber said he is unable to do anything to combat the issue. I'm wondering if any of you have come across this before? If so how did you deal with it? The machine is an AEG L61470BI - 54.4cm deep (which from what I can see is a pretty standard depth). Do any of you know of another washing machine on the market that is concave on the bottom 1/3 at the back? Many thanks in advance! Gina

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I have come across this before there are two ways to deal with it. Firstly if there is a 600 cupboard nearby swap them over, maybe a bit of plumbing involved. second breakout floor around mains pipe chase it under the floor and move it either towards the wall or under another unit that's what I've done before not an easy job the second one but they are your only choices that I know

This issue should have been spotted much earlier than this and at 95% done the best way forward is to move the incoming main rear wards and alter the remaining pipework to suit. lead or plastic does not matter just cut around the pipe and push it back. any competent plumber should be capable.
