Cut an open on main (load-bearing) wall and relocate bathroom

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.24 PM

Hello, Is it possible to cut an open on the main (load-bearing) wall for access to side/rear extensions. For example, cut a door side open on the side wall for double storey extension. And cut two 3-4m open for access to the rear extension. Also there's only one bathroom on first floor at the middle but rear side of the house, is it difficult to relocate the bathroom and create 2 en-suits? Thanks a lot.

For Structural Alteration Work you will need Structural Engineer drawings and calculations for steel and concrete lintel, Building Notice Application, Building Control Inspector Completion Certificate. The upstairs bathroom can be redesign and form two ensuite bathrooms, the building work needs to fallow building regulation Part E for sound proof, Part F ventilation and Part H drainage connexions.

Hi, Yes this is possible but you would need an architect and structural engineer to design size of steels and to inspect footings to see if they are adequate.
