Porch Area Glass Wall/Door Area Needs Waterproofed.

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.24 PM

My front door enters a small porch area (used for shoes etc); it's then a step up to the next door which enters the hall. The porch floor is concrete and has cracks - what's the best way to repair them? I tried using mortar type stuff before but I think the main issue is rain getting in from the under the fixed glass wall next to the front door - what should I use to waterproof this? Any advice would be appreciated.

the easiest solution is to apply mastic around all joints but are you sure the damp is not coming up through the floor which might not have a damp proof membrane

a thorough check of the glass wall to confirm no water ingress is coming in there would be first point of order.if confirmed the join along the bottom of the glass wall should be dried, cleaned and resealed.if the floor also shows damp entering a suitable waterproof membrane or paint on waterproofing treatment over the enter area can be applied.also ensure the area has appropriate ventilation for air circulation.
