Move gas hob to other side of kitchen
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.05 PM
Hi My husband and I would like a new kitchen but we can't agree on one thing; can a gas hob oven be moved to the opposite side of the kitchen? Will it be a complicated procedure? Our kitchen is 317cm x 355. At the moment the gas hob oven is in an awkward place and moving it to the other side would, in my opinion, enhance the room. We are looking to incorporate Range Cooker. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi the gas pipe can be moved & isnt usually to costly, you will need a gas safe engineer to carryout the work though. Depending upon the current installation, the pipe can be routed from the boiler feed if nearby to the new location & the existing one can be capped off, or the new pipe can be run around the wall behind units if possible, again depends on your new design, or it can be laid under wooden floorboards if you have them or chased into a concrete floor. Best to ask a local engineer to have a look or a good kitchen designer should be able to help, hope this helps

Of course a gas hob/range cooker can be moved. The cost implications would depend on how easy it would be to get a new gas pipe to new position (labour and materials)
Any good gas safe engineer could help you with this question
