Do design&builder's get trade discounts on premium white goods?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.24 PM

I'm in the process of buying a place which I want to fully renovate. I don't have an endless budget, so am trying to be careful in what I ask for to make sure it is achievable. A big portion of my budget is taken up by specific premium white goods I want to buy (Miele/similar fridge, washer, dryer, oven, and so forth). Similarly with non kitchen stuff (whirlpool bath for example). What I'd like to understand is, do builders get meaningful discounts off retail price for these items? ie can I assume they will be making a profit simply by ordering and fitting them on my behalf? Otherwise, they're simply a genuine cost and I'll know the guys have to find their profit from other parts of my budget.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi quite simply for you to get the best prices you would need to order the goods yourself, use the internet to find the best prices especially if you know what you want, although products such as the Miele appliances you will find it hard to buy online & at reduced prices as they dont usually allow the products to be sold online or heavily discounted, hope this helps
