How do I do my wooden floor in kitchen which has popped up?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.44 PM

A fairly large area of the wooden floor in the kitchen extension of our new house has popped up, we think due to heat expansion and inadequate space for the wood to expand. It literally bounces when we walk in it! Can this be fixed or does the entire floor have to be replaced?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

you will need to check the perimeter to see where the floor is fowling, then you need to cut a relief in either the floor or wall of at least 10mm (1 cm) if your luck the floor will level out if not then put a towel down, put a board on top and use heavy weight to level the floor, this could take a few days.

Hi Its a damp sub straight. If it's a MDF backed flooring it probley never going to be right again. Plywood backed flooring won't be as bad. But you will have to release the tension at the perimeter and get rid of the damp. Or it's just going to keep expanding.
