I want to remove a Bedroom chimney (Breast)flu .. and keep downstairs fireplace

I am wanting to remove one side of chimney breast in bedroom so I can still use downstairs fireplace ... is this possible.. I have spoken to my neighbours they are happy for me get work done .. if the side that services bedroom fireplace is removed up to the ceiling .. leaving loft in place .. what sort of support would be required.. Thank you

My advice is to forget about this option. Its a big messy job that will result in very little additional space being achieved. If you really do want to gain some extra space upstairs, get a builder in to remove the FULL Brest in the bedroom AND loft and then engage a specialist to install a metal flue system in its place to service the ground floor fireplace. This is a big, expensive and very messy job to undertake properly and safely. In my view, the type of project that is only sensible to carry out in a full house refurbishment with no-one living in it.
