Will fitting a wall light make a mess of my wall?
Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.55 PM
I would like a wall light but do not want to redecorate. There is a light switch on the other side of the wall exactly where I would want the wall light to be on the opposite side if that makes sense. Could the wiring from that be used in some way to stop.my wall being wrecked or is this not possible? Thanks

You can't just wire it from a switch. You need a neutral to it. Think you might be better off getting an electrician in.

Will the wall light be installed where an external wall backs on to it, as you can run the cable external in 20mm conduit you would require to take floor up above to supply from lighting circuit or if there is a socket near by you could install a switch spur drill through to the back side of the wall and drill back through where you would you want the wall light installing using conduit, to protect the cable from external influences, if that makes sense, you will need a neutral and switch live at the fitting, like Deacon Electrical as mentioned you would probably be better getting an electrician in, but there are ways round wiring with out damaging decorations,it cant always be achieved thou!
