How to know what dimmer switches to buy

Hi Im looking to purchase a mixture of push to turn on dimmer switches. Mixture of 1 single , 2, 3 & 4 gang switches. Question is, are most switches universal? Is there anything specific I need to check on before purchasing dimmer switches? I hear through the grapevine not many electricians like fitting them?! (Or is my source at fault for spinning me a yarn on that one) if is true what can I buy that makes installing painfree? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You would need to read what it says on the dimmer, make sure the Minumum 40w is reached and maximum 240W is not exceed it, most of the times they work but sometimes you will experience flashing and not able to dim as you desire.
