Can any one put my mind at rest? I have a log burner installed on the ground floor of a converted bunglow that now has an added second floor with a huge 10m steel spanning the roof. So there is a lot of weight in the gable walls. The flu of the log burner goes out of the gable wall on the ground floor. When I use the burner I can hear the bricks cracking loudly behind the plaster. The plaster and board cover the wall so I cant see anything. But can hear it. It only happens when I use the burner. Is this normal or dangerous? Can any one help? Thanks David.
Its is more likely the plaster cracking due to excessive heat, you would get the same cracking if you were to use a wallpaper steamer on the wall by holding it in one place for to long, I am assuming you have lightweight plaster walls.
