Lower outside wall painted with bitument roof felt adhesive

About 40ft by 1.5 of lower outside wall of semi-detached house painted with bitumen roof felt adhesive. Will this harm the bricks?

yes it will hold any water ingress higher up the wall in the bricks causing them to splay long term

This will not harm the brickwork, it's a good sealant for damp and the like.

no not really,basically its to stop water penetration on the lower walls,but will not harm the bricks,they will propably last longer.
