Moving DNO cut-out/main fuse and electricity meter about 1 meter

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.24 PM

See this photo: https://goo.gl/photos/BvVZ75sSMnSsy3uT6 To allow me to install shelves/storage unit on the lower wall, I'd like to relocate dno cut-out/main-fuse, the electricity meter and isolation switch from the lower board to be tidily above the consumer unit on upper board, thus allowing the lower board to be removed. This would presumably involve extension to the supply cable, either router up corner, or better yet put in the wall. Who can move these? Can my electricity supplier move the meter and cut-out/main-fuse? Or does the cut-out/main-fuse need be moved up the wall by my DNO? Is a jointed extension to the supply cable acceptable? Can this supply cable be put in the wall?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Good afternoon Nick In answer to your question, yes it is possible to move your cut out and meter to allow for installation of shelves. However electricians aren't allowed to do this. To move the cut out you need to contact the network operator for your area. With a quick google search you can find out who yours is. The you will have to arrange for the meter company to move the meter too you can arrange both to be done on the same day if you can't then you will be without power until it has been done. The electrician comes in last to connect the consumer unit to the meter or isolator. Hope this helps. I couldn't see your pictures but above is a general rule and you network provider i.e. Western power etc will come and look for free if you fill out a query form on their website.
