Refill hinge holes on internal wooden door

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.05 PM

Some of my internal doors are loose on the hinges as the holes have got bigger on both the door and the frame. Rather than drilling new holes, is it suitable to use a wood filler to fill the holes and re-drill on the same holes? What is the best why to reuse the same holes? Thanks

a great way to solve this is to buy some dowel plugs say 10mm and drill it out using a 10mm drill bit. glue and plug them

Cut a small wedge from soft wood and hammer it with Pva glue in to the old screw hole. Wait for glue to set. There you go, you can drive the screw in to the original hole and it will be tight this time.
