Is it possible to add to existing carpet when extending a room?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.44 PM
I have a new build house with new carpet in and I'm having a stud wall removed in one room. It will create an extra corner approx 1metre square that will need carpet. Will I need to have the whole room done or is it possible to have an extra section added to existing carpet with an invisible seam? Thanks in advance

Hello,
If you have some carpet left over from when it was originally fitted or are able to get more of the same carpet seaming a piece in wouldn't be a problem for most fitters.
Very few people will guarantee that a join will be seamed so well that it'd be invisible though as some carpets just join better than others. Also your carpet that's laid currently will be more worn than a new piece you install. A fitter will have to ensure the pile is running in the same directions to deliver the best possible results. Use a heat seaming iron with gold seaming tape, have patience and heat swam rolling tool to bring the pile together afterwards.
