French Gully and rener issues

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.44 PM

I have recently received a survey on an end terraced house which recommends that a French gully installed at the rear and down the side of the house would help prevent water getting into the rear walls from the patio area. Is this work long and is it likely to be in the hundreds of pounds or the thousands please? It has also been suggested that the render on the end wall should not have been taken to ground level, possibly covering air bricks or over-riding the damp-proof course. Can you give a rough idea of the costs involved in chipping back the render effectively and neatly? Thank you.

the French drain is not really a big job, just maybe a day or two, the render it will depend on how well its adhered to the wall on whether it will come of without causing a lot of damage to the brickwork. get the seller to fix these issues before you make an offer would be the best route. good luck alex
