silicone sealent

I have had a plastic bath panel fitted recently also plastic behind my bath instead of tiles but the silicone they have used is pealing away ? also It is coming away when I clean. The silicone around the bath is very thick and hardwearing?. What is the difference between them and could you recommend A silicone that I could replace it with. Thank you

hi Lorna, i would think its a very cheap sealant that has been used, i would suggest you go for the Unibond Shower Silicone, the silicone that has a 35-year guarantee . If the silicone was to be submerged in water then the best silicone sealant would be plumbers gold silicone, made by Ever Build . i hope my answer will help you fix the problem. regards Brian

Hi, as per Brians answer above. Also check that there is no movement between the two surfaces before the sealant is applied and that all surfaces are clean and completely dry before applying the sealant. If you have water or other contaminents on any of the serfaces, the silicone will not adhere and if you have movement of the surfaces due to poor installation or support, no matter what silicone you use it will still come away.
