Can you skim only part of a wall?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.23 PM
Hello, All the walls in my bathroom were tiled 3/4 of the way up, I've removed them all & now only tiled around the bath. Where the tiles went around the whole room, some of the adhesive has left the wall uneven. I tried to even it out with Polyfilla Smoothover, but as there was too much adhesive left in a few patches it looks awful. I thought I could live with it the one wall with uneven patches is bugging me... Is it possible to have only part of a wall skimmed as there are new tiles on part of the wall (around the bath) that I don't want to remove?

If you scrape off the old tile adhesive where the tiles were so it looks flat you can plaster part of the wall as a blend in coat with skim, but make sure the part of the wall your plastering is pva glued first. Hope this helps

If the rest of the wall has been painted, might be best to scrape back the glue, pva and skim the whole wall
