Plastering & Rendering

Plasterboard ceilings appearence and quality is now very poor!

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.05 PM

I have been in my property since it was built in 2002 - I have noticed that from about 4 years ago the plasterboard ceilings are not right. One by one the screws are popping, with a lot of funny noises, even when not walking upstairs. Now one by one you can see where the plasterboard sections, you can clearly see the joining's. What could the reasons for this - in 2009 I had cavity wall insulation put in, even though I asked if it was needed, as the house is a fairly new property and has blocks insulation - they said its extra insulation - could this be related to the plaster issues??

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Sounds to me like the boards weren't laid flat to the joists, movement from upstairs will cause a slight imbalance in the joists causing the screws to pop. Best to overboard and skim.
