Large hole found underlawn in Frint Garden
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.42 PM
We purchased a1970's built house 9 weeks ago and whilst tidying up the front garden my wife put a small hand spade into the soil and it went through to a hole. I have opened this out to around 18 inch diameter but I am able to drop a 4 inch drain pipe about 8 feet in a couple of directions with little or no resistance. I had a drainage man check and there is no problem with drains. I am reluctant to keep opening on the surface and was after some advice on who to call in to help. Prior to house being built the land was farmland.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

depending on area you are in ,but you did say it was ex farmland ,this could be down to a giant moles lair ,they are quite rare but often found in the welsh valleys
