Extractor fan is only irking with light off should be with light on

I have fitted an x mart extractor fan in my bathroom controlled with light but it only comes on when light is off

You have connected it up wrong flesh out the question a bit is it a timer one, ordinary one-what?

The switch live for the fan is in the wrong terminal. Your best bet is to get an electrician to have a look. Should be a quick fix.
