can the electric meter go in the cupboard below a built in double oven?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

We are planning a new kitchen. How far away does the electricity meter have to be from the oven? We plan to put a tower unit with a built in double oven, so the electricity meter will be accessible in the cupboard below. Is this safe/ legal.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

How far does it have to be from the oven? The meter and Consumer unit has to be accessible. I suggest you either get an electrician in to advise or re jig your kitchen layout.

An electrician is not allowed to move your meter. Ull need to seek advice from your electrical provider (edf). I doubt they will be helpful but worth a try. Also both your consumer unit and meter need to be accessible to a point of any emergency. Any electrical point ( sockets , spurs etc..) needs to be minimum 300 away from your cooker. That's to the left of to the right. DEFINETLY NOT ABOVE :)
