Is it easy to relocate radiators? And is cold water tank needed with combi boiler?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.54 PM

Hi! Not sure whether I posted in right section (plumbing or gas work?) My OH and I buying a 3 beds semi-detached in Barnehurst (Bexley). The lounge's radiator and the master bedoom's one are positioned on the right side internal wall instead of under the windows (front house). This interferes with furniture placement. We would like those 2 radiators to be relocated under the windows. Is it expensive to do that? And is that a straightforward job? How long would it take? Should plastic or copper pipes be used? What size should the pipes? Which is the best for long term? Price wise, would there be much difference? Also the house has an old cold water in the loft and it has a new combi boiler installed back in 2010. What would be the best setup? Should the cold water tank be kept? Many thanks in advance M.

The cold water tank would not be used and is probably empty as you say the boiler is a combi. The radiators are a straight forward job. pipework could run along the wall at skirting board level to the new locations. This can be boxed in after installation and painted to make a tidy job.
