Boarding Over Walls where there is condensation

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

Hi there, We have been told we have condensation in the walls are looking at ways of repairing the walls. The condensation seems to come from the central heating pipes between the walls. We have removed small areas of plaster to exposure the brickwork and allow the wall to breathe. Would it be possible to leave the wall in its current state and cover the lower section of the wall with Tongue and Groove Boarding. leaving a small gap in between the wall and boards? We have been advised that this would allow the wall, in its current state, to continue breathing. Thanks very much

You need to get to the root of the problem before covering it up, covering any damp area is only going to cause more problems for you. Dr Paul D Rogers Expert in Building Defects Email: DrPaulDRogers@mail.com

Hi, To create more air flow i would advise ventilation bricks. You could also try and re route the pipework. I would not recommend just trying to cover it up. I hope this helps
