Priming new plaster before tiling
Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.54 PM
I have used Dulux plaster sealer on new kitchen plaster where it will be painted, is it ok to use it on splash back and sink areas where I plan to tile? Hoping to use thin brick slip effect tiles.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

There are to many trades ,saying pva is ok as a primer for tiling this is not the done thing as pva breaks down when wet ,for tiling you need to use an apd or sbr primer.

You should really be using an acrylic based bonding agent.once it has dried it will stay dry and not become breakdown like pva does.
Most tile shops will stock a small bottle with instructions on how to achieve the correct dillution.
