Uneven chipboards on a first floor house - easiest fix for a diyer

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

Hi all, i want to level up a uneven chipboard floor. The room is generally ok but only 1 of the joists is bowed (been this way for at least 10 years) and as a result the chipboard is bowed with it. What is the easiest method to level the chipboards, taking the boards up will be a pain and id like to avoid this if possible - so i was looking at using a self levelling compound but had my concerns if it would cope with the flex of people walking on it over joists and for someone using a office chair on it regularly. The dip goes to around a max cm. Does anyone have good experience with self levelling compounds? Is it a good idea or bad idea using this on a first floor onto chipboard? Last thing i want is to have to take it back up. Any tips on products that are good? We were looking at the high performance setcrete product on wickes website, though its latex free so wasnt sure if this was idea but says its flexible and fibre reinforced. Many thanks in advance :)

Hi Mate, Try giving these a call and they should be able to advise on the best product for the job. I expect it should be bonded / primed to the floor, but should be fairly straight forward. Cheers http://www.uzin.co.uk/
