Central Heating

Type of Worcester Boiler (Combi vs System)

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

I have a student rental property with 6 small bedrooms, 2 showers and 2 toilets and a kitchen/diner. There is not enough space for a conventional boiler and tank. Currently, all heating is electric. I would like to know if it would be possible to use a system boiler (35CDI 34KW Classic System or 30I system 30KW) to supply 2 showers and all 11 radiators (new gas heated central heating system)? Which cylinder is required? Is it 93L (835heightx570diameter) or 123L (1035heightx570diamter) Would it be possible to use a high flow 550 CDI 41.1 KW 850Hx600Wx600D Combination boiler to supply 2 showers and all 11 radiators? Which will be a more reliable system?

Based on your property information and the average amount of domestic hot water (DHW) that will be used you will need to fit the following: 1. 300 Ltr indirect un-vented cylinder 2. 30KW Conventional/Regular boiler (sealed system) 3. Suitably sized external central heating pump 4. Suitably sized expansion vessel for heating system (Min 20ltr vessel) if you choose item 2 above. Rule of thumb when selecting hot water storage: 50 litres per person NB: Check incoming mains cold water pressure, if poor this will impact on the DHW flow rate! Also forget any form of combi boiler as this will not be suitable for the amount of tenants in your property. This comment is based on the fact that all combi boilers are very limited to how much DHW they can deliver at any one time!
