Plastering & Rendering

Can you plaster on timber if covered with Unibond?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.05 PM

Hello, I have had to have holes cut in my plasterboard and timber fitted. This was done to provide a solid base to hang a heated towel rail. So the person doing the work has not replaced the plasterboard over the top or used any kind of metal mesh. He has simply unibonded and plastered. I have been told this is likely to mean the plaster will crack later as the timber will move when it gets hot or cold (which is bound to happen next to a heated towel rail). Is this right?? Can you just Unibond and plaster over timber?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
