I have low pressure on all taps except the kitchen cold water

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.04 PM

I have low pressure on all taps except the kitchen cold water. The hot water flow decreases when the cold water is running. The taps are not combination - they are separate hot and cold. The pressure fluctuates too e.g. the trickling hot water will sometime burst into life after a few minutes without any other taps being utilised. Puzzled. My uneducated guess is there is an air lock? Addendum: - I believe it's a gravity system, large boiler at the highest point in the house!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You pretty much nailed it with your guess. If your hot water and cold water are tank fed (gravity) first things first is to make sure you have adequate water in the storage tank in your attic. Along with this I would be checking all pipework for any high points. Basically all pipework leading back to the tank should be gradually sloping back up to the tank to allow air to freely remove itself from the system. There is also the possibility of sludged up pipework or tank.
