Leak from dormer roof/flashing solved - how long will wall take to dry out?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.04 PM
We purchased a house which the survey showed had penetrating damp from a roof leak. The leak seemed to be coming fro ma flat dormer roof and the flashing around the connected chimney. These have now been remedied. However, there is obviously still a damp patch o nthe wall inside below the leak. The wall is wallpapered so the patch is quite apparent. How long should it take thi9s to dry out? Can the process be sped up in any way without further damage to the integrity of the wall? Whilst the wall is still damp, it is really hard to tell if the leak is 100% solved - I'm assuming that water within the wall will continue to draw out, so the wall will continue to feel damp to touch until all the residual moisture is gone. Is this correct?
