Tiling

can heavy large porcelain tiles be put onto plastered wall in bathroom?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

I have been given conflicted advice regarding tiling our bathroom renovation, so would like some clarity please: We have 2 external walls which are solid & 2 bricks thick, and 2 internal walls with breeze-blocks. All walls have been plastered & painted (years ago). Plaster & walls seem sound & solid. Question: 1) Would it be safe to cover all walls with large format thick porcelain tiles without using a cement board (including the shower)? 2) Is there a certain weight limit which can go onto a plastered wall safely? Many Thanks!
